Happy 35th BIRTHDAY!!!!
35 years ago, in December 1984, on a cold and misty day in Bangalore, the first Quantum Key Distribution protocol saw the light of day. Christened BB84, after its inventors C. H. Bennett and G. Brassard, this protocol is the work horse of many QKD systems due to the simplicity of its implementation and the thorough security analysis. Advanced versions such as the decoy-state BB84 or entanglement based BB84 exist today making sure that the good old BB84 will stay with us for many years to come.
For this special occasion we prepared a little video, explaining you the protocol. The legendary BB84 as simple as a game of (quantum) cards, see below.
Enjoy and Happy Birthday BB84!
